Liu Ming is a euro-American who over the last 40 years has had the great good fortune to study and practice Chinese Daoism, Chan/Zen and Tantric Buddhism with several great teachers. He holds a degree in Asian aesthetics (art/philosophy) and has been teaching aspects of Chinese medicine and astrogeomancy for several decades. He currently lives and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area.
His students understand him to be a trance-medium.
Producing art to decorate human dwellings is ancient and universal.
In the Chinese tradition decoration is not always
superficial and fine art is not always a gravely serious cultural matter.
The basic understanding
and appreciation of Chinese art/crafts has always
been associated with feng shui.
During the weekend
we will visit the world of Chinese art history and its role in the harmonizing
of traditional Chinese architectural styles. Calligraphy
is part of that tradition. Art as icon or amulet
is art that regulates and balances Qi.
We will experiment with making your
own amulets. Each participant will receive good basic brushes and
ink to learn some Chinese characters and how
they are used in feng shui -
Qi balancing.
The Use of Amulets and Art in Traditional Chinese
Feng Shui
(Application
to Modern Environments)
We will review and consider the possibilities of art as Qi and its
application to feng shui in modern and diverse environments.
